"Hello Horse!"
at Stonecrest Farm offers Basic Horsemanship and Pre-Riding Lessons for the safety of the
future rider. This is a hands-on introduction to horsemanship for children, ages 7 and up, and for adults of all ages.
Learn to safely handle horses and ponies before going for that first riding lesson. You will receive individual instruction
from a teacher with 45+ years of horse experience. Work with friendly horses and ponies at a quiet, private stable in
the country, just outside of Charlotte. Lessons include:
- Basic ground handling
- How to
safely catch, halter, lead and tie
- How to groom
- How to bathe (weather permitting)
- How to saddle
and bridle
- Horse anatomy
- Tack care
- Basic understanding of how
a horse communicates
Each lesson lasts for 45 minutes and can
be scheduled for 1 - 3 times per week, considering the instructor's availability. The student will receive an official
Hello Horse! hat at the end of the course. (There is a simple test.) The
course can be completed in 3 - 10 lessons, depending upon the student's ability. Advanced lessons are
also available. Cost per lesson: $25
