a teacher with 50+ years of horse experience, working with friendly horses and ponies at a quiet, private stable in the
country. Stonecrest Farm is located just east of Charlotte, close to Mint Hill, Matthews,
Indian Trail, Midland and Locust. Initial lessons include:
- Basic ground handling
- How to safely catch, halter,
lead and tie
- How to groom
- How to bathe (weather permitting)
- How to saddle and bridle
- Horse anatomy
- Tack care
- Basic understanding of how a horse communicates
Each lesson lasts for 45 minutes and can be scheduled for 1 - 3 times per week,
considering the instructor's availability. The student will receive an official "Hello Horse!"
hat at the end of the course. (There is a simple test.) The course can be completed
in 3 - 10 lessons, depending upon the student's ability. Advanced lessons are also available. Cost per lesson:
$25 The "Hello Horse!" lesson program has now
been expanded to include basic riding lessons. Students will learn the fundamentals of a balanced,
independent seat and quiet hands. Individual lessons are $40 per hour. Save by scheduling on a monthly basis
at $150 per month for 4 lessons (one per week).
