Welcome
to Stonecrest Farm! Established in 1981, Stonecrest Farm is a simple and peaceful haven for horses, and
for all animals and people. Don and Chris Donahue - native Charlotteans - grew up owning, riding, training, and loving
horses. In the 1990s, they began collecting a small band of elegant and rare Egyptian Arabian mares to breed to
several top Arabian stallions. Known for their delicate beauty, intelligence and affectionate natures, these mares,
and their foals, became so beloved that only two were ever sold. The Donahues opened Stonecrest
Farm Boarding Stable in 1994 and began accepting a few select boarders who shared their love and respect for
horses. In 2006, Chris, a former riding teacher, began "Hello Horse!", a lesson
program teaching pre-riding and basic horsemanship to children and adults. This program helps to insure the safety
of the future rider by giving them the skills to interact and handle horses in a respectful manner before riding lessons begin.
During this time, Chris also began working with the United States Equine Rescue League and now serves as one of the Adoption
Coordinators for North Carolina.
From their lifetime of loving and owning horses, Don and Chris are well aware
of the powerful affect that horses have on humans. Horses are a wonderful gift from God; having the ability to
inspire, soothe and lift the spirits of anyone willing to spend time with them. It is with this knowledge, and
the desire to share it with others, that The Horse Experience was born. Stonecrest
Farm now offers weekly sessions in being with horses and discovering the life-truths that horses can teach us.
